WHO IS ?

Vedat Akman (Ph.D) is a popular nonfiction "self-help" Author and Academician from Turkey. The author, with his warm and witty style, takes on the role of mentor. Individuals in many of his "self-help" books became influential public figures in their communities. Akman has done an outstanding job for his community with his books by promoting young successful individuals and creating a new source of inspiration for other young people. His style is informal yet knowledgeable, the content of his books are extensive and his wisdom invaluable.The author offers smart, real and inspiring wisdom through the examples of selected individuals' stories and experiences. Akman was then awarded a special award for his accomplishments as author and creator of the International Short Film Festival project JCI Istanbul Crossroads (JCIST) .
JCI Istanbul Crossroads International Short Film Festival and Contest was created to rise global awareness on the issues surrounding immigration by supporting short film makers in the form of a short film contest and festival. It is supported and organized by JCI Istanbul, a non-profit organization, affiliated to Junior Chamber International, recognized as a partner organization for Global and Continental Initiatives by UN and various other institutions including Council of Europe and EuroChambers.

Akman is the founder and director of EMAJ Emerging Markets Journal of Business Management (peer-reviewed) published by Pittsburgh University Library System and co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Press (2011). He is also the founder of both (JCIST) JCI Istanbul Crossroads International Short Film Festival & Contest (2006) and CINEJ Cinema Journal (peer reviewed) published by Pittsburgh University Library System and cosponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Press (2011). He has books published from Yakamoz (2007), Derin (2007), Hayat (2004), Sistem (2002), Filiz (2002), Rota (1998), TÜGİAD (1998), Alfa (1996), Dünya (Globus-1994), Era Publication Houses (1994) in Turkey and BookSurge Publication House (2006) in USA. Akman, received numerous awards for his achievements nationally and internationally.
